Utopi’s CEO and Co-Founder recognised at the 30th anniversary of Property Week’s Commercial Property Awards in London.
Utopi’s CEO and co-founder, Jonathan Burridge, has been named Property Leader of the Year at the Commercial Property Awards 2026, announced last night at Grosvenor House in London.
From everyone at Utopi: well deserved, Jonathan!
A Milestone Year for The Awards
The Commercial Property Awards have recognised excellence across UK commercial property for 30 years. This year’s ceremony brought together more than 1,000 developers, investors, financiers, operators and agencies for the programme’s anniversary edition, making it one of the most significant nights in the property calendar.
What Property Leader of the Year Recognises
The Property Leader of the Year category honours an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation and impact within the commercial property sector. Unlike most categories, it cannot be entered: the winner is nominated by the judging panel and chosen by anonymous ballot. This is recognition that comes directly from the industry’s senior leaders, based on what they have seen, not on a submission.
Leadership Measured in Outcomes
Under Jonathan’s leadership, Utopi has grown from an idea into the building performance intelligence platform trusted across 85,000 beds in 13 countries. That growth has come from a conviction that PropTech should make buildings work better, for the people living in them and for the planet, and from the discipline to keep building towards that even when the easier path would have been to follow the crowd.
Anyone who has worked with Jonathan, or for him, will tell you the award reflects something else too: a willingness to back people, to ask the harder questions, and to keep pushing the sector to think differently about what is possible.
What Comes Next
Individual recognition of this kind reflects a wider shift in how the sector values leadership. The judges’ criteria point to growth, innovation and tangible results, and those are the same measures institutional real estate now applies to the technology it adopts. For Utopi, the award is a marker on a longer journey: proving that putting people and planet first is the most profitable course of action, one portfolio at a time.
Congratulations, Jonathan, from the whole team. Thank you for the vision, and for building something worth being part of.
