Utopi won two awards at the Property Week Tech Innovation Forum & Awards 2026, held at The Kia Oval in London on 16 October 2026. Jonathan Burridge, Co-Founder and CEO, was named PropTech Leader of the Year, and Utopi and Downing Students won PropTech Collaboration of the Year. Both awards belong to a wider group that includes the Utopi team, our customers, and the operators and investors we work alongside.
PropTech Leader of the Year: Jonathan Burridge
Jonathan, Co-Founder and CEO, founded Utopi in 2019 alongside Ben Roberts, CMO; Falk Bleyl, CTO; and John Trower, Executive Director. Jonathan has led Utopi with clarity, conviction and a commitment to sustainable innovation in student living. This recognition reflects the leadership he brings to Utopi and to the sector, and the team and partners who share that vision.
Under Jonathan’s leadership, Utopi has grown into a market-leading building performance intelligence platform. Since 2019, Utopi has grown to cover 90,000 rooms across 13 countries, with the team and partners who share that vision.
PropTech Collaboration of the Year: Utopi and Downing Students
The judges said that “Downing Students and Utopi show what true collaboration looks like,” and noted that the partnership “delivered tangible benefits for the business, residents and the environment.”
The collaboration covers West Village and Atlas, two Downing Students assets in Glasgow. Utopi Multisensors™ capture room-level temperature and occupancy data, and The Utopi Platform™ uses it to run automated temperature controls, with exceptions for residents with health needs and guidance that explains the settings to residents. Utopi’s Impact Team works with Downing’s site teams to put that data into practice.
Bay Downing, Joint CEO of Downing and Downing Students, said: “The access to real-time data they give us on our portfolio is unmatched and their Impact team always help our site teams operationalise those insights.”
Looking ahead
We are grateful to Property Week and the judges, to Downing Students for the partnership, and to the colleagues whose work sits behind both awards. The next stage is more of the same, working alongside operators and investors across PBSA and BTR assets in 13 countries, as the UK and the EU look for evidence of measured building performance.
