Resident Engagement

Education and Engagement saw consumption drop without affecting comfort.
Daily Electricity Consumption before and after Utopi Intervention

Scenario.

During the 2025 heating season, the Utopi Platform identified a space consuming up to 20.2kWh daily at a PBSA property, significantly higher than comparable spaces on site. The room maintained comfortable temperatures, the resident followed normal living patterns, yet energy consumption was nearly double that of similar spaces. This discrepancy would remain invisible without the integration of consumption, temperature, and occupancy data working together. The Utopi Platform’s intelligent monitoring flagged the anomaly, prompting the site team to investigate what was driving such high energy use in an otherwise typical space.

Resolution.

Armed with this data, the site team visited the resident and discovered an external heater running in their room. Through education and engagement, they explained the impact and demonstrated how to use the heating system effectively. Use of the external heater stopped.

Consumption dropped by 11.6kWh daily, representing a 57% reduction, while temperature and occupancy patterns remained completely unchanged. The resident was satisfied with the outcome, their room temperature and comfort remaining unaffected thanks to proper engagement and education.
