“Real, sustainable ESG change will only happen with real-time data, actionable insights, and demonstrable results. That is precisely what Utopi delivers. I have seen this business grow from the inside, and I am genuinely excited about what comes next. The opportunity in front of us is significant, and I look forward to supporting Jonathan and the team as Chair as we continue to scale.”Nina Bjornstad - Non-Executive Chair, Utopi
Scotland’s fastest-growing PropTech business strengthens its board with a world-class technology leader as it accelerates international expansion.
Utopi, the multi award-winning PropTech and Data Solutions business specialising in the multi-tenant real estate sector, today announces the appointment of Nina Bjornstad as Non-Executive Chair, with immediate effect. Bjornstad steps in as Chair to help secure the company’s future growth ambitions, at a time of substantial and accelerating market demand for intelligent energy controls in an increasingly volatile energy environment.
The appointment marks a significant moment for Utopi, which manages over 80,000 beds across 13 countries and has been named Scotland’s fastest-growing PropTech business three years running by Deloitte Fast 50. Backed by the Scottish National Investment Bank, Utopi is at a pivotal point in its growth, with accelerating international expansion and a deepening product portfolio at the intersection of building intelligence and ESG data:
“Nina joining as Chair is a statement of intent. She brings the kind of technology leadership and international board experience that will be genuinely transformative as we scale. We have enormous ambition for what Utopi can become, and having Nina at the helm of our board gives us the governance and strategic firepower to match it.”Jonathan Burridge - CEO and Co-Founder, Utopi
Bjornstad is an experienced Chair and non-executive director with a track record spanning private equity-backed, publicly listed and high-growth technology companies across the UK, Nordics and Europe. Her credentials are directly relevant to Utopi’s trajectory: deep experience in the UK market, a strong grounding in the built environment, and a proven ability to support businesses through transactions, Private Equity partnerships and international scale-up. Most recently, she served as Non-Executive Director for Mace Group, a leader in project and programme management for the built environment, where she chaired the People and Remuneration Committee. She stepped down from the Mace board following the successful completion of a majority investment transaction by Private Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, one of the most significant deals in the UK construction sector in recent years.
Bjornstad is not new to Utopi. She joined the board as a Non-Executive Director in 2023, bringing immediate strategic value as the company scaled its platform across international markets. Her elevation to Chair reflects both her deep knowledge of the business and the board’s confidence in her ability to guide Utopi through its next chapter of growth.
The announcement comes at a moment of strong momentum for Utopi, with the company continuing to expand its footprint across Europe and develop its product suite, including building intelligence and ESG risk tools that are redefining what is possible in multi-tenant real estate management. Utopi will be showcasing its latest capabilities at UKREEiF 2026 in Leeds this May.
