Scenario.
Using monthly reports from The Utopi Platform, a PBSA site team identified an overheated space, and a clear outlier compared to other spaces within their asset. Using an average of 39kWh per day in electricity, the space had an average temperature of 26.4°C in the months of January to April.
Resolution.
Armed with real-time Utopi data, the site team went to discuss the overheating issue with the resident, but on arrival found no external heating sources, gaming devices, or rice cookers. The resident explained that they were not able to turn his heating off at the radiator, and they found the heating source was faulty. They were instructed to turn it off at the mains until the issue was resolved.
One resolved, in the next week, electricity consumption reduced by a massive 90%, to 3.9kWh per day on average. The average temperature also reduced to 25.4°C. Showcasing the impact that finding faulty heating sources can have on consumption.
